The 'Haunting of the Democrats'
If you missed reading this the other day, as I did, you should consider taking the time now to read Andrew O'Hehir's rather lengthy article at Salon.com, "The Haunting of the Democrats." Not only do I find his piece interesting and spot-on, I think his use of Marx's famous dictum is a nice touch - regardless of his intention, given that the reference to Marx is clearly appropriate to at least one of the two candidates, if not both.[...] History, in Marx's famous dictum, tends to repeat itself: the first time as tragedy and the second time as farce. So... ... morePosted at 7:28 PM

Request For Contributions Of Mohammad Caricatures
Here's an interesting emailed-in request for Mohammad caricatures. The writer says he is a Norwegian University College student that's "more or less done with writing the manuscript" for his book; "1001 caricatures of Mohammad as a defense, for the right to ask the critical questions and make caricatures. As we can gather from the books title, he needs contributions in the form of 1001 caricature drawings of Mohammad and asks that we publish his request in our "blogg." It's signed "Alias John Smith." So, being the nice folks that we are, here's his request for contributions of Mohammad caricatures:1001 caricatures... ... morePosted at 10:02 AM

The newspaper which announced Putin's divorce and possible marriage is shut down
I wrote about the possible divorce from his wife and the marriage to Alina Kabaeva here. So now the newspaper has been shut "because it was having financial problems", just after Putin denied it and said that "he was not permitting interferences in his private life" and that "he considers very negatively the people who try to gossip in the private life of others": "THE Russian newspaper that first published claims president Vladimir Putin had secretly divorced and planned to marry a gymnast has been shut down. The Billionaire owner of the newspaper, Alexander Lebedev, a former KGB agent, pulled... ... morePosted at 12:42 PM
Carter Again Proves He's The Useful Idiot Of Terrorists
Well put by Ed Morrissey: ... just as clueless 30 years ago as he proved himself to be this week. Carter had everything but Neville Chamberlain's umbrella as he returned with a supposed agreement by Hamas to recognize Israel and accede to a peace deal negotiated by Mahmoud Abbas and approved by referendum. However, Hamas immediately pulled the rug out from under Carter, exposing his idiocy...More at Hot Air. In other words, Hamas has once again pulled the wool over the near-blind (as in no one is blinder than those who refuse to see...) eyes of Jimmuh Carter. His being... ... morePosted at 9:03 AM

'Pope's Secret Service Agent Spots Someone In The Crowd'
For a little boy in a wheelchair with muscular dystrophy who had come all the way to New York from Corpus Christi, TX to get a glimpse of the Pope; a little boy who thought he had no hope of getting inside St. Patrick's Cathedral to see the mass; this day would turnout to be a beautiful day, unlike any other in his life: Thanks to one of the Secret Service agents safeguarding Pope Benedict XVI ... Jimmy Carter - America Traitor
To say that former presidents don't get more embarrassing than Jimmy Carter, a man so annoying the Israeli Secret Service won't even protect him during his visit to their country, is to put it mildly. Carter is an American disgrace and an embracer of America's enemies. ..... and lest we forget, here's but a few of the reasons that Jimmy Carter is most aptly referred to as the worst president in American history. At a glance:Jimmy remains quite full of himself. In fact, his sense of moral superiority has grown as the memory of his failed presidency recedes into... ... morePosted at 4:27 PM

Yemen: 8-year-old girl demands a divorce because she wants to "have a respectful life"
Nojoud Muhammed Nasser, 8, went to court by herself in Yemen. Nasser (8-year-old) complained about her husband's behavior. He used to do bad things to me, and I had no idea as to what a marriage is. I would run from one room to another in order to escape, but in the end he would catch me and beat me and then continued to do what he wanted. I cried so much but no one listened to me. One day I ran away from him and came to the court and talked to them. ... Whenever I wanted to play... ... morePosted at 9:28 AM

Behold the wisdom (despotic logic) of the Saudi cleric, Muhammad al-Munajid
Behold the wisdom of Saudi cleric, Muhammad al-Munajid, who also has some thoughts on colored underwear and, er, how to urinate piously:"The problem is that they want to open a debate on whether Islam is true or not, and on whether Judaism and Christianity are false or not. In other words, they want to open up everything for debate... It begins with freedom of thought, it continues with freedom of speech, and it ends up with freedom of belief."As David Thompson notes (who has the video), Al-Munajid doesn't seem terribly concerned with the numinous, or even with an erratic and... ... morePosted at 9:47 AM

UN: Slowly Killing The Freedom Of Speech
In the path towards censorship of which Islam profits, we have now that the special rapporteur on freedom of speech from UN Council for Human Rights will, according to the new UNCHR resolution: report on instances in which the abuse of the right of freedom of expression constitutes an act of racial or religious discrimination. The amended resolution was adopted on 28 March in Geneva by 32 votes in favour, mainly Islamic states, with support from China, Cuba and Russia. There were no votes against, but 15 abstentions. The measure was proposed by paragons of freedom Egypt and Pakistan... ... morePosted at 4:17 PM

Obama Now Lying About Lying About McCain's "100 years" Comment (Video)
As Mary Kather Katharine Ham writes at Townhall today, Barack is now being grilled by the likes of Meredith Vieria about his 100-year-war distortion thanks to a take-no-prisoners push-back from McCain (video below), his communications people, and righty bloggers. And as Allah notes at Hot Air, when even your fans at ABC are telling you to let this go, you should probably listen. With a straight face, Obama actually looks squarely into the camera and tells a bold faced lie! From our previous post on the Obama's lies about McCain's "100 years" comment, here's John McCain's campaign using the Obama's... ... morePosted at 11:00 AM
WSJ: 'The Petraeus Effect'
A poignant question in a remarkable article at the WSJ:As General David Petraeus briefs Congress this week on Iraq, it's clear his surge has achieved remarkable results. The most crucial is that the U.S. can no longer be defeated militarily in Iraq, which could not be said a year ago. The question now is whether Washington will squander these gains by withdrawing so quickly that we could still lose politically. The take home message from the article is that "Americans are understandably impatient with the war, but we have sacrificed too much, and made too much progress in the last year,... ... morePosted at 10:39 AM

Blame The Environmentalists, A Hoax-swallowing Congress, And A Hoax-swallowing President, For Rising Food Prices
You can thank environmentalists and politicians on both sides of the aisle for rising food prices; their insane, self-defeating, "world-wide food shortage disaster-in-the-making" push for biofuel from corn crusade is putting intolerable pressure on wheat and corn prices, and along with it - the price of food:... U.S. ethanol production continues to rise amid growing demand for the fuel and as new plants come online, ... The situation is likely to keep pressure on corn prices for both ethanol producers and cattle feeders. Spurred by federal subsidies, U.S. ethanol production has more than tripled since 2000, hit 6.5 billion gallons... ... morePosted at 8:08 AM

Religion Of Peace Update
Muslims in Turkey are marching against Fitna, which they say is a movie that links Islam to violence. Imagine that? What on earth would cause someone to associate Islam with violence in today's world? On the other hand, what rational human being that isn't deaf, dumb and blind could think otherwise? After all, it's not Baptists, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhists, and atheists that are constantly threatening violence, chopping off heads, blowing up infidels and fellow Muslims that either disagree with the Islamists' theofascist ideology or just happen to be in the wrong place at the time an Islamonutjob wanted to... ... morePosted at 2:52 PM
Uh Oh! Global 'Warming' Cooled This Year
UN meteorologists: "... global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory." What is Al and the global warming nuts to do about this disturbing data? Although the data clearly shows the planet cooled this past year, nonetheless - not to be deterred from their conclusion - irregardless of the facts, according to the BBC so-called "experts" say "we are still clearly in a long-term warming trend - and they forecast a new record high temperature within five years." Perhaps Al and his Kool-Aid drinking scientists should spend a little more time looking for all... ... morePosted at 1:09 PM

Religion of Peace Report: Muslim Lawyer Says 'Non-Muslims Deserve to Be Punished'
A report posted on Islam Watch, a site run by Muslims who oppose intolerant teachings and hatred for unbelievers, offers this interesting exchange between a member of "Islam Watch," a prominent Islamic cleric, and a Muslim lawyer who supports extreme punishment for non-Muslims -- including killing and rape:[...] "Because non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet," the Imam says, according to the report. "If you don't believe me, here is the legal authority, the top Muslim lawyer of Britain." ... The lawyer, Anjem Choudary, backs up the Imam's position, saying that all Muslims are... ... morePosted at 12:10 PM
