About The Iranian Revolutionary Guard And That Tunnel Network In Lebanon
IsraeliI forces trying to root out militant Hezbollah fighters Hezbollah Islamic terrorists from southern Lebanon have uncovered sophisticated "Viet Cong-style" tunnel networks and encountered fierce resistance they say indicates the presence of Iranian military advisers:
In its latest report on the fighting, British-based security and intelligence journal Jane's Defence Weekly cites a "senior defence source" who claims that what the Israeli army is facing in Lebanon is not a militia force but "rather a special forces brigade of the Iranian army".Mr Ben-David may not know of any hard evidence that Iranians are fighting in Lebanon with Hezbollah, however, WorldNetDaily has reported that they have been told by senior Lebanese political sources the bodies of Iranian Revolutionary Guard soldiers who were killed by the Israeli army in Lebanon have been transported to Syria and flown to Tehran, and that the information was confirmed by Israeli and Egyptian security officials.Jane's reports Israeli forces have discovered a well-established network of tunnels and trenches with entrances often disguised inside dwellings.
Jane's correspondent Alon Ben-David told The Australian the tunnels were deep enough for the Islamic militant group to survive Israeli artillery and aerial bombardment.
Mr Ben-David said that, while no hard evidence of Iranians fighting on the frontlines had been uncovered so far, Israeli defence sources were adamant they were active in rear areas assisting with arms procurement and working close with Hezbollah in their Beirut headquarters.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad isn't letting up with his diatribe against Israel, calling Israel the 'statue of evil, and that "The Zionist regime (Israel) has not only violated and destroyed Lebanon but also slaughtered innocent people, including dozens of children", and that Israel was "only was introduced as a fake regime of outlaws and a statue of evil, which has not the least of attention for humanitarian values."
For the sake of brevity I'll avoid getting into the old axiom of the pot calling the kettle black.
