On Hezbollah And Misplaced Pride
Sudanese Thinker addresses the idea of Arabs deriving pride from Hezbollah fighting Israel, and seems to wonder when Arabs will begin to have pride where it really counts:
I just saw this comment which was left by a reader on Sandmonkey's blog. I simply had to post it here."When will the Arab-Muslim world stop getting its "pride" from fighting Israel and start getting it from constructing a society that others would envy, an economy others would respect, and inventions and medical breakthroughs from which others would benefit?"The above is so very true. It's one of the main things my political beliefs are based on and why I'm against the non-constructive attitude of venting out anger at USA and Israel. Contrary to belief in the Arab street, I don't think there's "pride" in what Hezbollah has been doing.Read more at Sudanese Thinker...
I think that pride in never-ending hate is much misplaced. Why must the Arab street care so much about venum and hate, and so little about productive knowledge, the happiness in learning, and the satisfaction of real achievement in things like science, medicine, and technology? I wonder what everyday life would be if the ocean of money that is spent on hate and buying weapons to kill the jews was spent on creating real jobs and industry for that Arab street and educate them in science and the creation of new technology. The Arab street needs to point its pride in a new direction and not be so easily led by people who have so much misplaced power.
