A Report On Democracy in the Middle East
The UN Development Programme, Regional Bureau for Arab States has published The Arab Human Development Report 2004: Towards Freedom in the Arab World. Although there are the usual Arab biases regarding Israel and the United States and President Bush, the report is nonetheless valuable for its observations and information on the advance of democracy in the Middle East, and the problems that beset it.
