Hezbollah to Keep Weapons in Southern Lebanon
Israel wasted a lot of lives, bombs and rockets for nothing. The UN ceasefire that was to result in the disarmament of Hezbollah and return the captured Israeli soldiers did neither. When the Lebanese government told the Hez to disarm, they said take a hike. When the Lebanese government said to hand over the weapons that are currently in southern Lebanon, the Hez said no way.
So, according to a Al Hayat newspaper report, the Lebanese government reached a compromise with Hezbollah: keep the weapons in the south but refrain from exhibiting them publicly.
Kofi Annan and company, and the international community, probably think that's perfectly alright - if you can't see them they must not be there. Hell, if only the blind could see, if only pigs could fly, and if only the UN and the international community could ever do anything right, just once.
