25 British Pathfinders On Four-day Mission Fight Off Taliban Siege For Eight Weeks

In what amounts to an incredible feat, a British reconnaissance platoon that set out on a four-day mission to a town in the north of Helmand province in Afghanistan, survived mortars, Kalashnikov fire and grenades, and ended up spending 52 days under siege by the Taliban. Three of the eight weeks were spent in under constant attack:
The Pathfinders have forged special ties with many foreign units throughout the years. Cross training between many of the NATO armies is commonplace. The platoon has worked closely with the Danish Jægerkorpset, Swedish Rangers, German Pathfinders, the U.S. Army's Rangers and the Pathfinders (or LRS) of the 82nd Airborne Division. Another close tie is with the GCP of the French Foreign Legion.
