Annan Accomplished Absolutely Nothing In Iran - And Other Iran Items Worth A Rant
... as we all knew would be the case. So why is it that Iran being given so much leeway? Is it simply that war isn't an option to the Europeans who believe they can appease their way to peace as Iran blows them all to hell in a nuclear cloud, ignited by terrorists?
The innept and hapless UN chief was snubbed by Ahmadinejad over international demands to stop enriching uranium, who also completely ignored Annan's warnings not to incite hatred by questioning the Nazi Holocaust. Not only did Iran not heed Annan's warnings over the Holocaust issue, it went even further to by announcing it would host a conference to examine what it called exaggerations about the Holocaust.
An as though Annan's complete failure to get anywhere with Ahmadinejad and the mullahs on the nuclear issue wasn't bad enough, he comes back and insults the intelligence of the entire international community and announces, " "On the nuclear issue, the president reaffirmed to me Iran's preparedness and determination to negotiate" a solution to the nuclear confrontation" - which is exactly what Iran has been saying for the last twenty years while continuing to develop its nuclear program.
Meanwhile, what's all this secrecy about between the European Union foreign ministers and Javier Solana over Iran? Solana is saying he would not need extensive sessions with Iran to clarify the remaining questions, and is not providing any timetable? Isn't he just buying more time for Iran to build nuclear weapons? Does anyone really believe that "negotiations" with Iran are going anywhere?
The only glimmer of hope I see is a sign that a number of EU member states are growing impatient with the secretive handling of the Iran issue by foreign policy chief Javier Solana and the EU's "big three," especially since most foreign ministers haven't had so much as a peek at a key Iranian paper at a meeting in Finland. We can only hope that sooner or later the international community will wake up to the fact that Iran is playing the West for the sucker that it's been for the last 20 years while it fell for Iran's lying and deceiving.
BTW, before leaving this brief rant on Iran, can anyone name one single benefit to the U.S. in allowing former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami a two week open forum throughout the country, sponsored by the US Islamist lobby, to spread propaganda, pretend to be moderate and reconciling, while being given platform after platform to condemn the US? On the other hand, why is it that our intellectual elite and the MSM are always so quick and willing to blame the US for the evil of others?
As suggested at Die Welt, we need only to take a look at the published letters from President Mahmoud Ahmadinijad: the letters to President George Bush and to Chancellor Angela Merkel. At best, these are embarrassing, even humorous. But actually they're rather worrying. Their combination of sycophantic flattery, tendentious argument and idiosyncratic construction shows the work of a cunning yet unbalanced mind, an autodictat lost in a fantasy world of unconstrained ambition and hatred. Aren't we just as nuts as Ahmadinejad if we fall for Iran's deceit and lying?
Why are we so damned naive and condescending to our enemies? They are laughing at our insanity, while they are mapping our destruction!
