16 Iraqis Captured Who Are 'Directly Related' To May 12 Attack On U.S. Soldiers

CNN reports that U.S. and Iraqi troops have detained 16 people they say are "directly related to the attack" on May 12 in which three U.S. soldiers were captured (hat tip - Ace of Spades):

U.S. and Iraqi troops have detained 16 people they say are "directly related to the attack" on May 12 in which three U.S. soldiers were apparently captured, a U.S. military official said.

The three men disappeared after insurgents attacked a U.S. military observation post in the Mahmoudiya area, in a stretch known as the Triangle of Death.

Four American soldiers and an Iraqi soldier were found dead at the scene of the ambush.

The body of one of the three missing soldiers was found floating in the Euphrates River on Wednesday.

An intense search continues near the river for the other two men, Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Michigan....

On Friday, hundreds of soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment Stryker Battalion searched fish farms in a swampy area 11 miles south of Yusufiya, the military said.

They found 14 weapons caches and 3,000 pounds of explosives and ammunition, much of it buried in 55-gallon drums, the military said....

The location may have been a crossing point to transport the missing soldiers from one side of the river to the other, the military said.

Ace points out that the terrorists have "already tortured and killed one of our troops; doubtless they have the same planned for the remaining two, if they haven't tortured and killed them already, and appears to suggest that we drag out a copy of the al-Qaeda torture manual that was recently discovered by U.S. forces in an Iraqi safe house, and use use blow torches, electric drills and meat cleavers to torture and force information out of the 16 terrorists, just like al-Qaeda does (so to speak).

While John McCain and the left would prefer we feed the murdering torture al-Qaeda freaks tea and cookies, and gently ask them if they'd please give us a clue where they have our missing soldiers, I'd much rather see al-Qaeda's manual put to good use - on al-Qaeda. The time has come to truly take the battle to the enemy, stop being soft, cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war, and make it perfectly clear to our enemies that they will be given absolutely no quarter. If they want to die for Allah, it's time we damned well oblige them.

They have given our troops no quarter and no mercy or compassion, and no amount of kindness and compassion shown to them will result in an iota of difference in the way they treat our troops, anyway. They do not fear us now because we have shown our soft underbelly, and by God they need to fear the very mention of U.S. Forces.
