New NIE a Sign of Deals in the Air?
In a regular column on her website, veteran analyst Raghida Dergham speculates on the possible significance of the recent US National Intelligence Estimate which declares that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003. She suggests this may be an internal US coup d'etat intended to deprive President Bush of the option of going to war with Iran, and cites recent events such as Iranian president Ahmadinejad's first-ever attendance of a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and a visit to Syria by Jordan's King Abdullah II.
