So what is the thinking behind Israel's plans to build 700 new homes in two settlement blocs in the occupied West Bank? If the plans for new homes in the settlement areas have to do with "cheap housing," it's a damned bad idea. Security reasons would be a stretch, although more understandable, given that when Israel withdrew from the West Bank and from Gaza, violence against it by the Palestinians actually increased on both occasions.
Is the answer to call for the formation of a commission to investigate the occupation an answer?
