WaPo Journalists: Kumbaya Awaits U.S From Al-Qaeda
If we're to believe the WaPo's piece today titled, "Sunni Insurgent Leader Paints Iran as 'Real Enemy," (with the byline of "U.S. Strategy Described as Only Inflaming Iraqi Resistance" - a not-so-subtle hint of the intended message of the piece) the Sunni insurgents in Iraq "heart" the U.S. troops, hate George Bush (I have to admit that I'm no great fan of his), and gee if we'd only unleash the Sunnis to murder all the Shi'ites who are all Iranian puppets (of which many surely are), than the U.S. and the Sunnis can join hands in one big glorious Kumbaya, have coffee, and chat.
But then there's that little qualifier: "Special" correspondents Salih Dehema and Saad al-Izzi in Baghdad and other Washington Post staff in Iraq contributed to this report. And after for Salih Dehema and Saad al-Izzi, reading the pieces associated with them, and seeing that virtually every single piece they have ever been associated with is of the "bad news in Iraq" variety and or "colored" to slide-in anti-U.S., anti-Israel, anti-U.S. contractor digs, my great hope for the promised Kumbaya has now been dampened.
And golly gee, I just can't help but wonder how and why a leader of an armed Sunni "insurgency" group associated with al-Qaeda just happens to stroll into a Baghdad hotel where two "unbiased" Iraqi WaPo journalists just happen to be waiting for a fireside chat to be told that the surge isn't working but if the U.S. releases all the Sunni insurgent prisoners all will be just fine between the U.S. and al-Qaeda in Iraq.
Call me naive, but don't accuse this South Georgia farmboy of having just fallen off the turnip truck, yesterday.
