Jaafari Speaks to 18th IRGC National Commanders Conference

The 18th national conference of IRGC commanders is underway in Tehran. Majid Akhavan reports:
Majid Akhavan: At the 18th national conference of IRGC commanders and officials the commander of the Revolutionary Guards said: The Islamic Republic of Iran is a great world power and relies on spiritual power. All of the world's great materialistic powers are disturbed and agitated about the spread of this power. General Mohammad Ali Jaafari added: Enemies want to reduce the influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region, and they are very afraid of this influence and development in the region.
General Jaafari: The mission of the Revolutionary Guards is to confront threats to the Islamic revolution and its achievements. Since the threats to the revolution have various dimensions, they are not purely military. The Revolutionary Guards must have special organizational and mission flexibility to be prepared to confront any kind of threat to the revolution or the government of the Islamic Republic. The readiness of the guard corps is not purely military.
Majid Akhavan: The 18th national conference of IRGC commanders and officials has various dimensions and numerous messages.
Brigadier General Zarif Manesh, conference secretary: We are discussing our policies and measures for the coming year. One message for our dear nation is that the through the grace of God and with reliance on the people the IRGC is prepared to guard the Islamic revolution and to defend against all possible threats. A message to enemies is that the IRGC is prepared for a comprehensive defense with alertness and firmness.
Majid Akhavan: At this conference, attended by more than 2,500 IRGC commanders, the IRGC commander said the enemy has the Islamic Republic of Iran surrounded but is afraid to look askance at it. He said; This is one of the signs of the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially the IRGC and the Basij.
