"Positive hatred" of Christians is ok

Yet another Islamic lecture for infidels. Sheikh Abd Al-Aziz Fawzan Al-Fawzan, a professor of Islamic law at Al-Imam University , who frequently appears on Saudi TV, recently made anti-Christian comments on Saudi Al-Majd TV. He told his audience to hate anyone "who worships Christ, son of Mary" and added that "whoever says 'I don't hate him [i.e. a Christian]' is not a Muslim..." He went on to explain that such an attitude "is not racism" since the Christian is not hated "because of his color, gender, blood, country, or because he is American, European, Chinese, or Asian," and stipulated that... ... more

Exporting Democracy? No, Unchaining a People

When President Bush calls for "fostering democracy," one should read this phrase as "helping a people cast off the chains that bind and the fear that paralyzes them." The difference between tyranny and liberal democracy is that in the former people are in chains, in effect prisoners of the whims and desires of the thugs that rule, and in fear over what might happen or be done to them - metaphorically, the 3am knock on the door. One should keep this firmly in mind when coming across the assertion that we should not "export democracy." It's like saying that we... ... more

Again--Incomplete Democratization DOES NOT Risk War

Perhaps you have come across this argument about promoting democracy: "Yes, maybe once countries achieve a liberal (mature, well-established) democracy, they don't make war on each other, BUT in the process of democratization, they make more war than do other nations, even more than dictators against each other." Therefore, it is sometimes concluded, fostering democracy is a dangerous project. And this argument is used against our involvement in Iraq. A major source for this assertion is the published research by Jack Snyder and Edward Mansfield in their book, Electing To Fight: Why Emerging Democracies Go To War (2005). I'm increasingly... ... more

Incredible! And The Horror Continues As The Threat Increases

On the right, North Korea vs. South Korea at night. Also, consistent with this picture, read this from several years ago, which seems to apply today as well: 1. North Korea's population requires about six million tons of food for each person to have a minimum diet. The regime controls all farming, all agriculture, and can only produce about four million tons. This causes a food shortfall of two million tons, or 33 percent below what is minimally required. 2. Kim has imposed rationing, and his handouts are the only way to legally obtain food. There are no independent channels... ... more
